Inside Passage School of Fine Cabinetmaking is located on beautiful Keats Island, just across the harbor from the ocean-side community of Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. The facility was designed specifically for our needs and includes separate bench, machine rooms.
Our bench room has an abundance of natural light and wooden floors to protect our tools and our bodies. Each Student is supplied with a traditional Målilla workbench, stool with an adjacent sharpening station and tool cabinet. Our machine room features heavy cast, well maintained machines. The school is home to the machines Jim used in his Bromma Sweden basement workshop in the 1960-70’s and the Inca machines, he used in the final years of his life.
Machine maintenance is done on an ongoing basis throughout the program. While no longer part of our curriculum, students wanting to learn more about the care of our machines, are invited to participate during these times.
