Gary Kent
Relief Craftsman & Teacher
Gary's interest in woodworking dates back to his days as a salmon fisherman
on the West Coast of British Columbia. In 1981 he jumped at the opportunity
to study with James Krenov in the inaugural year of the College of the
Redwoods fine woodworking program. Since then he has been working on a
wide range of projects in his shop in Roberts Creek, BC.
Krenov's influence on his work is still very much apparent as is Greene and Greene and the
oriental motifs that have informed a great deal of 20th century studio
furniture. He continues to explore that very rich vein.
