"My hands get itchy if I am not busy with them and I feel most at home when making. I believe it is possible to craft beautiful objects, that these objects can provide good service for a long time, and that there should be satisfaction both in the making and in their use.
Design is everywhere and when it is in our home, in the most intimate spaces of our lives, there is a certain need for honest things, for surfaces that are pleasing and gentle. So much demands our attention, it is good to have furnishings that don't- unless we care to. There is enough billboardery and flashy technology honking at us, who wants to sit in a chair at the end of a day that does the same? Or worse, one that creaks and wobbles and pokes at us? Why not calm, quiet lines, and carefully balanced visual weight. Furniture pieces that reward one's attention but do not clamour. This is both simple and difficult.
For me, wood is the most challenging and rewarding medium for this, with a craft history as rich and universal as the material itself."
